PMMA Composite Thick Films as Gas Sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gas sensors play vital role in detecting, monitoring and controlling the presence of hazardous and poisonous gases in the atmosphere at very low concentrations. The composite prepared by mixing carbon black with PMMA has very good gas sensing applications. The gas sensors based on Carbon nanotube / polymer, ceramic and metal oxide, epoxide, polyimide, PMMA / BaTiO3 and SnO2 have also been developed. In the present work, a thick film of composite was prepared by using PMMA and Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP). Then, the composite’s gas sensing behaviour for acetone vapour was tested by measuring the resistance change of the composite at room temperature. An increase in resistance has been observed with a response time of about ten seconds. The PMMA/Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (PMADP) composites were characterized by using PXRD. The electrical conductivity of PMADP composites was also studied. The results show that the thick film of PMADP composite can function as a very good gas sensor for acetone vapours.

Effects of Surface Modification on the Recovery Time and Stability of Nanostructured Tin Oxide Thick Films Gas Sensors
Along with high sensitivity in detecting gas, the response and recovery times of semiconductor gas sensors are of considerable importance for real life applications. In most cases, the recovery time is more than the response time. At the same time, water vapor present in the ambient, is chemisorbed on the tin oxide, SnO2 surface and the water molecules dissociate into hydroxyl species, which ac...

Two types of ceramic-polymer composite thick films were deposited on Cu substrates by an aerosol deposition process, and their properties were investigated to fabricate optimized ceramic-based polymer composite thick films for application onto integrated substrates with the advantage of plasticity. When polymers with different mechanical properties, such as polyimide (PI) and poly(methyl methac...
متن کاملPreparation of macroporous SnO2 films using PMMA microspheres and their sensing properties to NOx and H2
Macroporous SnO2 (mp-SnO2(P-n); P means polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and n = diameter of PMMA microsphere) thick film gas sensors were fabricated by a modified sol-gel method by employing PMMA microspheres (n = 800, 400, 250 and 150 nm) as a template and SnCl2 as a tin source. Morphology of mp-SnO2 films was markedly dependent on the SnCl2 concentration and the diameter of PMMA microspheres. E...

People may develop a headache, fatigue and even narcosis when the concentration of acetone in air is higher than 10,000 ppm. Hence, detecting and measuring acetone concentrations in the workplace or human body are necessary for our safety and health. Gas sensors play vital role in detecting, monitoring and controlling the presence of hazardous and poisonous gases in the atmosphere at very low c...
متن کاملEffect of Plasma Fluorination Variables on the Deposition and Growth of Partially Fluorinated Polymer Over PMMA Films
In this work, an investigation was made of the modification of film surface of Poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) using the plasma polymerization technique. PMMA films 10 μm thick were obtained by Spin-Coating starting from a chloroform solution (15.36% w/w). The films were exposed to the plasma of CHF 3 at different gas pressures and exposure times to increase the thickness of fluorinated polymer...
